Contour TRL™ (Tunable Resurfacing Laser) is a state-of-the-art skin resurfacing system that utilizes 2940 nm erbium-YAG lasers to enable a range of treatments from very superficial to deep skin resurfacing (laser skin peel).
A short pulse erbium-YAG laser is used to remove (ablate) the upper layers of skin while a long pulse erbium-YAG laser is used to heat (coagulate) the tissue including collagen in the deeper layers of skin.
The TRL is a significant improvement of the Contour dual-pulse mode laser from Sciton, Inc. (Palo Alto, CA) making the Contour TRL™ equivalent to anything from an Erbium:YAG laser to an Erbium:YSGG laser to a CO2 laser, or anything in between and for the first time enables doctors to customize the precise amount of ablation and coagulation needed for each area treated.
Available treatments using the Contour TRL include:
Arctic™ Peel - very superficial peel with minimal downtime that uses very cold air to maintain comfort during the treatment. Series recommended.
Lamellar Peel™ - a combination laser treatment with ThermaScan™ immediately followed by MicroLaserPeel™ for superficial tightening and smoothing; greater improvement of mild wrinkles expected compared to MicroLaserPeel™ alone. Series recommended.
Laser Ablation Skin Lesions - spot laser treatment to remove unwanted benign skin growths (lesions) including moles, seborrheic keratoses, skin tags, etcetera. Compared to freezing with liquid nitrogen the treatment is more comfortable, enables faster healing without formation of blisters and a more aesthetically pleasing result. Any lesions suspicious for cancer should be biopsied.
Laser Scar Revision - reduction and smoothing of scars over face, head and neck using the Contour Tunable Resurfacing Laser
Laser Skin Peel - uses Contour TRL™ laser in a more aggressive fashion (similar to CO2 laser in depth of effect and results without the downtime and liklihood of complications associated with the CO2 laser) to decrease the appearance of facial lines, scars and wrinkles as well as improve overall skin texture and tone
MicroLaserPeel™ - adjustable-depth peel for improving surface texture and coloration; not expected to result in significant improvement of wrinkles
South Beach Peel™ - BroadBand Light (BBL™) Photorejuvenation treatment for pigment reduction immediately followed by superficial (20 micrometer depth) MicroLaserPeel™ for improvement in skin texture and coloration with downtime as short as a weekend
S.T.A.R.™ Procedure - SkinTyte™ skin tightening treatment immediately followed by MicroLaserPeel™ for deep tissue tightening and superficial smoothing with minimum downtime
TRL™ MiniPeel - new treatment that is intermediate between a MicroLaserPeel™ and laser skin peel in downtime and results; the treatment results in removal of only superficial layers of tissue while also heating deeper layers of tissue enough to cause mild tightening and improvement of mild to moderate wrinkles; the treatment leaves deeper layers of tissue injured but intact as a protective barrier during initial healing - similar to Pearl laser treatment
