Sciton ProFractional™ Skin Rejuvenation quickly and effectively treats acne scars, skin pigment, tone, texture and wrinkles. The procedure uses an erbium-YAG laser and a computerized robotic handpiece to remove micro-columns of damaged tissue. Depending on the desired results the micro-columns are selected to be more superficial or of greater depth and spaced closer or farther apart. Healing is very rapid since the procedure leaves normal tissue between each micro-column of tissue removal.
Depending on treatment depth and the spacing of micro-columns, downtime for recovery can be as short as a weekend. More lengthy downtime would be expected for deeper treatments or for certain combination treatments. Routine skin rejuvenation is generally completed using topical anesthesia only but nerve blocks and analgesic medications may be necessary for deeper treatments (e.g. for acne scarring).
The procedure may be combined with other procedures that are also available through our Aesthetic Light and Laser Center (e.g. BroadBand (BBL™) Light Photorejuvenation, MicroLaserPeel™, SkinTyte™, ThermaScan™).
Most patients obtain significant improvement with 2 treatments but difficult cases may require additional treatments.
